Dr. Weiwei Wang is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of South Alabama. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Florida State University in 2025, where her dissertation focused on fast convolution algorithms for artificial intelligence acceleration.

Her research focuses on AI acceleration on FPGA, Edge AI, fast convolutional algorithm optimization, VLSI / IC design, and hardware-software co-design. She is interested in bridging algorithm development and practical hardware implementation, with the goal of building efficient intelligent systems for real-world deployment and advancing semiconductor and microelectronics education.

Our paper, “Practical Hardware Operation Analysis and Crossover Points for Fast Convolution Algorithms,” has been selected for presentation at the 60th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers in October 2026.

Our project, “Advancing K–12 AI Literacy through Real-World Applications in Microplastics Detection and Environmental Science,” has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Dr. Weiwei Wang is honored to serve as Co-PI on this project, in collaboration with Dr. Shenghua Wu and Dr. Drew Gossen.
